[edit] Project Information

  • In short, the damage of the earthquake has left roads and villages inaccessible, and people displaced from their homes. Organizations are looking for free maps of the affected areas to improve the success and efficiency of emergency response as well as rebuilding efforts. In addition, the data will be provided to the Haitian government, which does have some GIS capabilities and a GIS unit. Software will be setup and training provided so that the Haitian government can make use of the data.
  • Interrelated, map data needs to be translated from English to French as well as the software code and supporting user documentation. We are absorbing translation tasks into this project as appropriate.
