[edit] Status report
This was moved from Crisis Camp London Ongoing
Overview: We're making a useful start, around 20 people, building toward a really lively event next week. Infrastructure working fine, Wifi working well so far, massive thanks to London Knowledge Lab. We've set up a Twitter Wall > projector painting your #crisiscampLDN tweets on a spare wall... starting to monitor :)
Relief Web
Initial review, showed that while the site contained useful information, from a user point of view it could be faster and needed more clarity. User interviews were carried out with users from the Aid Sector and requirements were captured. A stakeholder list was created and initial suggestions from Users about improvements were made.
Publicity and Communications
Started a mapping project to help us and all Crisiscamp initiatives focus on good pubs / comms from a user experience perspective > Tools & Service Production > Tools & Service Domain Areas > Information Sources & Communication Channels > Communications > Projects More details on these to follow....
>> Identified resources & tools for Comms / comms activities started / identified skills required <<
Things we need for next weekWe probably need to bring more 4 way sockets next time, and remind people to bring laptops if at all possible. Struggled with corporate firewall on location > difficulty using IRC. Wifi access might be an issue next week - we're expecting significantly more people now we're rolling.
++++++++++++++++++++
23 Jan 3.00pm
Relief web: Team has started > Design API / Example App / Registry for apps based on API / Sub Teams
Communications & collaborationNote: This was not on the wiki project list, but we reckon this will be really important as the London camp grows, and perhaps for all Crisis Camps: to smoothe the interface between what users need and the tech support using a variety of different styles & tools. Seeking to collate comms channels, avoid duplication of effort by communicating clearly and seeking to create clear and accessible guidelines for all crisis camps.
> Mapping out developed further & resource mapping undertaken > Visual updates coming soon
Simple Tasks Couldn't make it here today? As well as the main wiki page, have a look at some Easy Action Tasks at [1] << this is how you can also participate even when you can't be here in person, or want to carry on working during the week
++++++++++++++++++++ 23 Jan END OF DAY REVIEW
Relief Web Done > Designed API & example app for Relief Web << YAY!!! :) >> Needs: to be implemented >> Chicago, Toronto??? >> See international project wiki entries for full details 'Relief Web'
>> ?How does CC internaitonal continue on this from hereon week? Need 'buy in' from UNOCHA and full access to RW website for coding
>> Please take this forward :)
Publications Communications Crisis_Camp_Haiti_Comms_Strategy Note: We view this as both a local and global project, for crisiscamp as a whole to consider. Identified important activities and streams that we need to monitor and use. We'll imminently share with DC, Boston & whole community. We have captured this project on a short commentated video, to be posted shortly.
We have captured a 'Needs' list for the next CCLDN - please see Wiki note :)
>> Request 1: Each camp nominate one person to follow this project, review, add, improve... any suggestions? Contact Claire @ clarissima >> Request 2: To other camps: Please keep an eye on Tweets or other messaging :) What do people prefer? We had problems locally with using IRC. >> Need: Access to blog, possibly need to create our own blog.
FacilitiesNeed more power points (4 way gangs next week). Probably have enough Wifi access for 30, looking into increasing access via other routes for next week >> Request: Please bring 3G dongles with you if you have them :) . We need to sort out IRC for next week (firewall issues). We're looking into food for next week (Vinay, Barry, Angela)
