This is the first of the monthly London CrisisCamps - we're meeting every month to work on CrisisCommons projects and keep the CrisisCommons team and applications ready for the next big crisis. At which point London CrisisCamp will spring into action as a weekly (or even possibly daily) CrisisCamp again.

  • Alan and Barry in BBC World Service Trust meeting, Bush House, Tues 2nd March 10.
  • Spike looked at the London Hackspace as poss venue, Tues 2nd March 10.
  • Sara, Alan, Barry and Martin went the CDAC coordination meeting
  • Sara and Alan kept contact with UNOCHA and UN CDAC

[edit] 1pm (ish) Check-in

  • Ushahidi task: working on first problem only because the backend isn't working well. Backend work held over until next camp. Work today is on second task: user interface, defining user workflows. Have had conference call with Ushahidi, and will produce document for them by the end of today. Are also working on French pages: have French speaker in team.
  • CDAC review: Have made suggestions on CDAC questionnaire. Are looking at question: Is NING suitable for CDAC needs (i.e. activity coordination). Are currently doing review on CDAC site.
  • XML Channels: Channel ids are okay now. Now working on titles, then onto XSL task.
  • Reliefweb HDP: Have read specification, and created tasks on GitHub. Database selector is done, as is landing page.
  • Loband: ~Task 1, front page updated, is done. Task 2 (link to guidelines) is nearly done, then onto getting test working.
  • Mobiles for monitoring task: Google apps site created for donations, how to help page (with 2nd hand mobiles) also done, as is overview page. Next working on "how many phones donated"/ map gizmos for site.
  • Link to CrisisCamp Mothership: Live streaming from founders weekend. Alan is on conference call to DC right now. SJF has been working on references for academic paper on CrisisCamp.

  • CDAC review: completed, and review email sent to Internews.
  • London comms review: CDAC team have moved onto comms review of CrisisCampLdn websites.
  • ReliefWeb HDP: team grown by 200%. Mock-up of site is complete.
  • XML Channels: Generating IDs completed. Now doing XML validation.
  • Ushahidi task: Producing user experience and language review document by end of today.
  • Loband: Front page changes completed. Now working on PDF filter.
  • Mobiles for monitoring task: Donations website completed.
  • Link to CrisisCamp Mothership: ongoing. Will do task handover with Paris camp at end of day.

[edit] 4:30pm (ish) Check-in

  • London comms review: Have reviewed CrisiscampLdn comms strategy, brainstorming platforms etc and editing main website. Task for next time: document analysing what we want to achieve with comms, and how we can do this: task for next CrisisCamp, inc advertising, key messages etc. Some issues with editing some of the website pages.
  • ReliefWeb HDP: Database designed, team now all on Github, now doing data import.
  • XML Channels: Have valid XML. Working on default values.
  • Ushahidi task: Completed: finished, sent and done.
  • Loband: PDF filter fixed. Working on online tests.
  • Mobiles for monitoring task: still ongoing. Effort now directed to primary domain rather than subdomain. Need brief from Yishay on what work is needed now on primary domain.
  • Link to CrisisCamp Mothership: ongoing. Have been sending progress reports to them throughout the day.

  • Question about NGO face for CrisisCamp... hopefully being sorted through Governance/ work at Toronto through Heather.
  • Get into the building, i.e. not being locked out for 1/2 hour: this was a glitch for just this week because normally we're let in fine at 10am
  • Pizza
  • Bring dongles
  • Set up way to get into network that doesn't rely on network ports, i.e. set up network port access
  • France: need to be able to clearly direct Paris CrisisCamp. Being able to direct people to something that tells them what to do (other camps). Invite Paris/Munich/Berlin to witness what we're doing in London. Bring webcams to next camp! Aptivate get Zi8? Need to dedicate one person as camera-person on one of the camps.
  • More Arduino action.
