CrisisCommons provides volunteer opportunities for individuals, businesses and communities to provide technical assistance assist relief agencies, diaspora communities, non profits, faith-based, non governmental and community organizations during times and places in crisis.

CrisisCommons volunteers leverage the social structure of the Internet and communication networks to provide tools and resources to encourage greater situational awareness, accessibily of local knowledge and empowerment of citizens and communities.

CrisisCommons primary mission is as humanitarians. It is an organization of creative actors which abides by the Code of Conduct for NGO's in Disaster Relief. The motivations of the inventor are always secondary to the mission to help people in need. CrisisCommons recognizes that the outcomes of introducing new tools and processes during crisis situations can do more harm than good. It remains hyper-aware of the humanitarian mission as it channels compassion into community action towards the development and implementation of tools and processes to address the needs of affected populations and relief organizations.
