[edit] How to Translate Pages in the Wiki

If you are interested in translating just one or two pages into whatever language you are familiar with for the Wiki please follow these instructions. This translation will be going on through the next couple weeks, but the sooner more info is available, the sooner more help can be recruited worldwide - and hopefully, the safer people in Haiti will be.

If you have not edited wiki pages before, it's easy! For folks new to wiki editing, there is a link to editing tips at the bottom of the editing pages. I just learned last year because we use one at work - very helpful!

Since the Main Page may change frequently, it's probably best to start by looking at subpages linked from there.

For example, you could translate:

into a Spanish site with the name:

or a French site with the name:

and so on for Mandarin, Simplified chinese, German, Russian, Hindi, etc.

If you need reference to what your language/ISO code is here is a link Chose from the far left column.

[edit] How to Create a New Page

You can pick any you like to translate.

  • Find a page you want to translate, such as the above example, 'Simple_Tasks_Anyone_Can_Do'
  • Then type the name of the page you're creating into the wiki search, such as 'Simple_Tasks_Anyone_Can_Do/es'
  • If it does not exist, choose to create the page (If it does exist, choose another page to translate)
  • Go copy the original wiki source material from the primary English page (click the 'edit' tab) and paste it into your new page and go for it! You may want to add bold row up top saying 'Under Construction', then save it so others know you're working on that one.

Any and all your help is greatly appreciated.
